As Creative Manager on Penumbra's Partner Development Team, Gaurav Mathur collaborates with a global network of external studio partners and therapists to develop virtual reality therapy games on the REAL Immersive System.
Over the last twenty-five years, he has worked on titles including the critically acclaimed Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, and the bestseller Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. As Art Director at MVI Health for two years, he helped build a new studio and guide development of its first Virtual Reality therapy game. He was a Senior Artist at Toys for Bob for over seven years, creating and managing 3D assets for the Skylanders console games.
He launched gamedevmap -- a curated living map and catalog of game development around the world -- fifteen years ago.
Gaurav has been a judge and a mentor for the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Game Developers Conference (GDC) Scholar program for over a decade. He was a participant in the National Conversation on Games, a joint project between Arizona State University’s Center for Games and Impact and the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy. Gaurav is on the Artist Advisory Board for the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment in Oakland, California.
